Scar tissue grows in damaged tissue when it tries to heal; little tiny band-aids that overlap each other to bind tiny tissue tears together. Your doctor may encourage you to use a cuff or brace. The brace or cuff typically adds light compression to the area to support the tendons. Most physicians caution you in not wearing a brace too frequently, as there is often restricted blood flow and the soft tissue is then not allowed the time to heal.
